Some campgrounds open 6 months out. Others release 14 days ahead, or split sites between two different systems entirely. Guess wrong and the site is gone before you're eligible to book it.
Closures happen without much notice
Rehab projects, fire damage, hazard-tree removal — campgrounds go dark for a season or longer with little warning outside recreation.gov's fine print. We flag every one we find.
"Max length" isn't always true at your site
A campground-wide maximum often reflects one or two sites, not the one you're about to book. We note when a figure is site-dependent so you can verify before you commit.
